Had the same issue recently but had lots more done in the shoulder.... AC, labrum, rotator cuff, subscap, bicep tendon, etc...it was my right and I drive a 5 speed 9-3SE. Doctor insisted I wait 12 weeks at the least and then added 6 more weeks due to complications...(my poor wife!)
With AC decomp only, you should not be too limited I would think, as it is removal of bone growth that impinges movement. With no soft tissue work, there really should not be any 'recovery' per se, other than the entry points which is very minimal.
Much of the limiting of driving is not if the work is recovered, but the possibility of an accident damaging repairs, with AC decomp there isn't any repair as such.
