A couple weeks before high school graduation I dislocated my left shoulder for the 3rd time, and had to drive one handed, at least my mom's car, a Crown Vic, as mine was a manual. I was driving almost immediately.
I tried attaching one of those aftermarket knobs to the steering wheel, but never got the hang of it & removed it. I got use to driving one handed, and it helped the car had "over-boosted" power steering. Just had to "plan" a little farther out to make sure I had the right hand placement, especially for working the directional signal, & drove more cautiously (not aggressive & gave more distance, etc).
Since it was a crown vic & I was in florida... driving slower and more cautiously, I fit right in.
