I personally would not use any of the gold sellers that advertise aggressively on TV. Try your local jewelry and coin shops first. I have purchased sucessfully from bulliondirect. At a minimum, educate yourself on bid vs buy pricing and the premium on products over the spot bullion price by visiting a site like BD or Apmex or Northwest territorial Mint. Most large cities like Los Angeles have local businesses that specialize in trading precious metals. If in LA, try California Numismatics Investments. Their website has a good primer on buying PM. All that being said, the price of gold and silver is pretty high still so use caution and buy on the dips. Good luck.
