Then you've already lost your bet. You really can't make the MG Rover deal set a precedence, it is apples and oranges. That was simply good business, MG Rover was already destroyed as a brand and even as an engineering/manufacturing company. If you want to throw around blame, it was BMW who sold Land Rover, took MINI, and left them for the vultures.
Youngman (and SWAN) would lose everything if SAAB was declared bankrupt. The current 9-3 and 9-5 would never be produced again as GM would take back it's licensing agreement. GM would also stop building the 9-4X permanently. The SAAB auto brand would revert back to SAAB AB (aerospace). The global distribution network would be demolished and I believe SAAB Parts would belong to the Swedish Govt. All there would be left to buy would be the factory in Sweden. While a great and modern factory, hardly as valuable post bankruptcy.
I think it is unfair to paint these Chinese companies with such a broad brush (and I am by no means a fan of how many mainland Chinese businesses operate). Do you truly know what Rachel Pang's long term intentions are? If any companies pillaged, underfunded, and left for dead the Swedish auto industry, it was GM and FoMoCo.
