Well, there are probably a lot of body parts lying around that were intended to go into new cars. What is the percentage chance you will ever need one? Most times if a collision is bad enough to require a completely new body panel, the car's a write-off. If there's no part to complete the repair, then the insurance company HAS to make it a write-off. The issue of insurance companies refusing coverage, or charging an arm and a leg for it has come up, but I've seen no compelling evidence to support that case. If that's a concern, then the potential buyer can just get an insurance quote prior to purchase. The other alternative is don't cause an accident, and then you don't need collision coverage.
