My dad's 2001 9-5 SE recently needed an ignition lock cylinder... this happened mid-summer. So I order from my local SAAB dealer as it is a SAAB SPECIFIC part, no aftermarket. To make a long story short, such a part for a Acura or Honda would be 3 days away from the warehouse took exactly 33 days from SAAB from Sweden. Thanks God we have a crappy old F-150 for Home Depot runs that my dad used as his daily driver until that part came in. I read stories on this board about people looking at buying brand new because of a super deal... if you got the vehicle for free and you needed a SAAB specific part to get it back on the road, what would you do???? It was a very sad day we sold the car as we are both SAAB fanatics, BUT, the piece of mind he has now driving his much newer Buick Ultra w/supercharger is priceless. BTW, it may look like an old mans car, BUT that Buick drives VERY VERY nice and is quite fast AND best of all, Joe Joe down the street at the service station can easily fix it. Maybe SAAB will be back someday, I'll be the first in line to get a good used one. Until the parts nightmare is sorted out, I would be VERY VERY careful of any future SAAB purchase. Just my 2 cents first hand experience.
