Is there a plumber in the house? Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Wed, 21 Dec 2011 13:12:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Where else to go but Saabnet?
I moved into a brand spanking new house in August. It's got that Pex plastic piping throughout and we've got city-supplied water. Up until a few weeks ago we have had absolutely amazing water pressure. I could be simultaneously running the dishwasher, washing machine, flush the toilet, hop in the shower, and still get pinned to the wall by the water pressure. All of a sudden that came to a screeching halt. If I am running ONE water source the pressure is acceptable. Nothing like it used to be though. As soon as you turn on another water source, say if my shower is running, and I turn on the sink faucet, the shower pressure drops drastically and the sink gets a slight trickle. The other morning someone flushed while I was in the shower and I barely had enough water to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. This is house-wide, hot or cold, so the furnace is not a culprit. It started during a week while it was consistently above 50 deg F so nothing is frozen.
The water company came and unhooked the main in the garage. TONS of pressure. They also made sure the meter wasn't restricting flow. I checked with neighbors to see if they noticed anything, and they haven't. We've never had any sediment issues (lived across the street for two years) so we never put a filter in. The plumber came for a second time today. Cut a hole in the ceiling in the garage to check elbows and "T's". No apparent blockages; though he installed a filter.
Any wonderful ideas? Thanks!
