Glad to hear you already paired the phone with the car. We too were disappointed that Saab wasn't able to make the iphone or others more integrated sooner (than iQon) with the Saabs, but we do understand Saab has had bigger fish to fry in recent years. It is one reason we'd love a new 9-5. Just not in our budget to even think about new cars for now.
If it helps to know, we are envious you still have an OnStar option. GM shut down our 2002 and older onstar units and did not offer to even let us buy updated units, so our OnStars are totally useless, no bluetooth, nothing. Not that OnStar itself is very useful compared to a smart phone or iQon.
Sure we could now go buy aftermarket onstar units, but we put up with having older Saabs that won't communicate directly with the phones. It is akin to not having enough cup holders to us to not have a newer stereo with smart phone or aux inputs.
Having friends with newer Saabs and seeing their bluetooth in action is neat, how the caller id shows up on the dashboard, and automatically lowers the stereo volume, etc. Sure it is bells and whistles but we still like it. Kind of nice here in CT where you are supposed to have hands free phones if you use them while driving.
Best wishes again on your new Saab - may it be as trouble free for you as our 7 have been for us, and we wish you many happy and safe years with it.
Still keeping the faith and hope here for Saab in spite of the odds, and hopefully no one has to slap you back awake! ;)
