I agree that the c900 can be a good daily driver but getting most of them to that point takes a lot of work. If you get lucky (at least where i'm at), and find a one that has been driven a lot recently with good history, go for it. But you may end up doing as much work to bring a c900 "up to spec" as you will in many years of ownership with a newer car.
I cant really speak for the DIY aspect of owning a 9-3ss because I havent owned one. If you want a hobby classic car/ daily driver hybrid, go for the c900.
