Water drops down from the coils during defrost, then into a drain to an evaporation tray below the frige. If ice at the bottom of the fridge, drain is plugged up. You need to remove items from freezer, place coolers. Turn off fridge or unplug. Leave door open and direct a fan into the freezer. You need to melt the ice, will come out in chunks after a while, locate drain. You need to clear the drain. See if you can do that with a shop-vac from the top side. The defrost elements do fail and this is the most common freezer problem. You can remove the back panel and see if the coils are highly iced up. If so, the fan will melt the ice. Amount of ice could then overflow the evap tray - catch water with towels. The defrost motor/switch controls the defrost elements. If you expose in the non-freezer side, you can check element continuity from there, if you know what you are doing [disconnect power]. There should be a schematic tucked behind the grill down by the floor. Look to see how much dust is in there.
