No snow in Kansas

Last year we had a lot of snow, back to back storms. Have not had a snow event yet! Cities are saving a fortune on snow removal and salt. The roads are not getting frost damage. Insurance companies are happy. Auto body shops are not, sales of windshield juice are down. Snow removal businesses are starving unless they have a seasonal fee. Hardware stores are full of snow shovels that have not sold. Car wash businesses are slow.
Forecast shows another 10 days of good weather. The bulbs in the front garden are due to start showing in 2-3 weeks.
Still not mounted snow tires, tire shops probably taking notice. But not many have snow tires in KS.
Last week we had a huge flock of robins, making an early start north to claim territory, probably just the males. They all came to our pond to drink as we have a bubbler that keeps the water open. All water elsewhere was covering in ice. They hang around and ate the buds on the maple and birch tree, so those trees will have a slow start.
Last week we drove two Saab 95 wagons to Nebraska and back on business with summer performance tires. Something that I would never have thought that I would do in the winter.
It is a snow drought. I think that plants are going to suffer from a lack of moisture. Will need to wait till spring to see how that goes. Our pond is exposed to the wind and sun. With no ice much of the time, we are evaporating one inch per week into the dry air. [The "pond" is man made with a liner.]
This is after 3 winters that were severe by KS standards.
