Still lots of problems in the industry. Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 17 Feb 2012 06:36:28 In Reply to: Honda might be the next Saab., Norm95, Thu, 16 Feb 2012 19:48:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Who will fall first?
- Mazda
- Opel
- Peugeot/Citroen
- Mitsubishi
Europe still has 20% over capacity which is affecting ALL manufacturers with facilities in Europe. Yet currency fluctuations almost dictate a company has to build cars in all markets where they will be sold.
Mazda was reported in the news yesterday as making 14 models, each selling under 100K units per year, in 13 different assembly plants around the globe. A modern day auto assembly plant can produce 250K units per year so Mazda is around 40% utilization.
Mitsu is suffering the same problem as Mazda, too much capacity and too few sales. Their US plant may be only 25% utilized.
