Could be bad ...Or good? If all or many recalls were forced upon them by outside agencies and they were fighting them all the way, that would be a bad thing.
If they were voluntary from within the company in an effort to correct things they realize was poorly done, that would be better. They at least know they messed up and try the best to correct. Which is what I feel Toyota and Honda are doing more than other companies. That's why the high numbers.
I think what I hate the most is when it is a royal screw-up that cost the owner a lot of money to repair and you can tell the company is trying the best to cover up and hope enough cars are going to be old and past warranty before it is uncovered.
The radiator/transmission oil cooler o-rings on the 03-04 9-3 comes to mind killing the transmission with coolant contamination.
Before they realized what the real problem was, many had had the transmission replaced under warranty. Many had already paid for the transmission swap because car was out of warranty. Others had their second transmission fail where the first had been replaced under warranty (but not the radiator) and now had to pay for the second one AND the radiator because by now, Saab had started to find out what the real problem was but car was out of warranty.
If it is a small cosmetic part or stuff like that I don't care if it is a recall or not. Just think about the MASSIVE effort to bring the 9-5 back in because they found out that the air bag warning sticker was peeling off the sun-visors. OMG, you can't drive the car without that sticker. A $4000.00 transmission, ahh, don't worry.
