My current 2000 9-5 base winter rims are 15" OG9-3 rims Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 07:42:26 In Reply to: Re: Question regarding a specific Saab rim, Steve in Chicago, Thu, 23 Feb 2012 17:20:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have discovered that most 5 hole Saab rims will fit all models, with the exclusion of the Aero models needing 16-inch rims at minimum. The 2003 Saab Accessory Catalog shows two 9-3SS rims with the notation that they will fit no other Saab models due to a technical issue. The two rim styles are the 5 spoke I pictured and one with 12(?) pencil spokes.
My assumption is that there is a minor brake caliper clearance difference between the 9-3 and 9-5 (I couldn't eye ball any difference in my garage where one of each are parked side by side) which allowed the creation of two 9-3SS rims that will not fit the 9-5 or earlier models.
See photo of my current winter rim style below. I think they look better on my car than the 10 spoke factory 16-inch rims.
