Not at ATMs, anyway. They accept anything. POS (point of sale) terminals are a little different with credit cards. You have to tell the person taking your card that you do NOT have a PIN for the card, and for them to process it as credit. They'll usually give you a receipt to sign, then your copy.

The norm in the Eurozone is to put your chipped card into the machine and enter your PIN, and take your stuff. That's what they're looking for you to do, so you need to tell them, otherwise, they just point to the machine.

I had no problems last summer in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany & Amsterdam...
