In Mordor it's about the same: besides bears and matryoshkas we've got lads who feature the bolts and lasses who come with the nuts. With the same threading they can... well, you know, screw to each other and make new bolts and nuts - or in a case of uneven threadings the joint can fall apart sooner or later. There also can be nuts with nylon inserts (self-locking nuts) or there can be the second nut added onto the first one to prevent the joint from self-loosening (which usually happens in a case of a soft bolt). There also can happen some long nuts accepting two (or more) bolts coming into both outlets, but this isn't much socially favored.
