I've actually done one AAN swap before - into my previous car which was a 4KQ. That was relatively easy since the car was already turbo'ed and I was replacing the 016 transmission with another 016.
But that car was rusting like crazy so I pulled the AAN out of it and I'm putting it into an 80 quattro, along with an urquattro tranny and rear diff, 5-lug conversion, G60 brake conversion, and changing the suspension back from coilover to stuff that's all stock CQ except for H&R springs. Along the way there are a few extra tricks like modifying the AAN intake manifold so it'll clear the radiator and condenser in the stock position so I can have A/C.
It's been going well but slowly... at this I'm hoping to have the car driveable by mid-September.
