The main issue is that all the details and specs are unavailable and one has to start with the reverse engineering when working on a such project.
Here's the case in brief:
- I bought GM product (Saab passenger car)
- the purchase didn't include any restrictions on using the product, including further maintenance
- I'd like to be able to perform the maintenance and diagnostic procedures by myself
- GM refuses to provide me with all the details and specifications about ECU internals and protocols used. Instead, it forces me to pay unreasonable fees to GM authorized dealers to have those service actions done
- what a ripoff!!!11oneoneone $3B must be collected from GM as a moral compensation and GM must be compelled to open DI/APC, T5.2, T5.5, T7, T8, ATE ABS MkII, ATE ABS MkIV, Siemens SRS, DICE... (...there go tens of other acronyms) to its customers who in this case are the owners of Saab passenger cars produced after MY1989.
Anybody's got the guts to file in this case?
