POR15 is great stuff and highly recommended.
In terms of slowing down rust, oil spray will help. There are many products on the market, even petroleum products not specifically intended for rust prevention will help. However, something like the thin creeping types (eg Krown or the red can of Rust Check) would be better.
That said, you may not want to spray these sorts of products around the interior and under carpets (though I have with care)... In which case, I recommend POR15.
