I agree about the GM loathing...why would any Saabist buy GM cars..
That said..
My buddy at work just leased a Buick Verano. Checking it out in the parking lot it looks very similar to the 9-5NG. The leather interior seems quite good.. It seems their version of the 9-5NG.
Also, the Chevy Sonic with its 1.4 Turbo motor seems like a well priced hatch.. of course one needs the RS model to get disc brakes in the rear..but they all come with alloys. Again, it seems a lot was stolen from the Saab playbook here.. all they need is the Direct Injection motor instead (which GM says is coming from Holden).
