I used to have solar for my pool on a shallow-pitched roof but in the snow belt it's just such a PITA to maintain. My install was semi-permanent, because frequently I'd have to get on the roof to clear snow, so the panels couldn't stay up year round. I had 3 roll-up panels 4' X 20'. You do need some mechanism to keep them from blowing off the roof during heavy storms though, which means roof penetrations. A couple of my mounting points developed leaks. They also add considerable heat to the roofing material underneath. You may have to up-size your pump as well. There is a lot of resistance pumping water to the roof and then through the 1/4" sized tubes that make up the panels. They definitely work, but so does a gas-fired heater. The gas-fired heater doesn't give you all the headaches that come with solar, but it is more expensive to run. We only run ours at the beginning and end of the season though, so no big deal.
