Well, that's what I really wanted too. After a 30+ year career in cellular, I currently have a basic Samsung GSM phone that makes calls in most places that I need it to (T-Mobile network) and has an extendable keyboard so I can communicate via TEXT with my teenage daughter (I have informed her that there is a great new app called "voice calls"!). This move came shortly after Verizon retuned their system eliminating reliable coverage at my house - I work out of my home, so this was a real problem, and they had no plans to correct it.

My CDMA smartphone (HTC Incredible, at one time the best phone Verizon sold) is now used as a portable WiFi communicator when I travel and primarily to run the Android version of iRealB, a fabulous music practice program!
