You make it sound like the whole bumper has to come off? It's actually not a bad job. I think you can just take the battery out on the driver side, and some intake duct work on the passenger side for easy access. I prefer the route of removing the three grille pieces (so easy), popping the corner signal lights off, and unbolting the whole lighting assemblies and removing them from the car. Everything is just pressure-clipped in, and then there are two 10mm bolts and one screw holding in each headlight block. They just slide out without the darn headlight wipers in the way anymore, and then you can install the expensive bulbs on your workbench so you don't smash them trying to get them in the hole at an awkward angle. I bet it takes you an hour, first time around.
