yeah, that's exactly how I do it, cement the joints and adjust before tightening fully... but on the last one (c900 cat back + cat) it seemed that the joints seemed to start to solidify/stick while I was adjusting and it took some effort to get them right, to have everything tight and get enough clearance so the aftermarket cat would not rattle against the heat shield... the angle required on the ring seal on the cat was pretty severe, so it was a touchy balance between leaking and clanging! definitely made me think twice about doing that again...

this one is all new from manifold to tail pipe, so maybe it will be easier... we'll see...

I wonder if there is much scrap value in an old aftermarket cat? I know the original ones are worth a good amount, but the aftermarkets are light on the precious metals... no point saving the one on the car because it's a welded in mess...
