Of course the SAAB uses less: in that 5000 miles, you may have to add four quarts (or more) of oil in the Audi just to keep the level above the minimum. In addition to being something else to think about with your new car, it's an unexpected added expense at $8+/quart for synthetic.
Pay some attention to this. My former 1996 A4 (bought new) burned oil at about a quart per 1100 miles when new. Audi says that that is "within spec", as their spec is a quart per 1000 miles. As these cars age, it only gets worse as the seals start leaking.
Note that my low mileage 2001 A6 is somewhat better, but nowhere as good as my SAAB 9000 with 200,000 miles on it.
