It's about a grand to ship from NH to LA. For a car that's only worth about $2K it's not a good deal for two months.
I'd thought about calling Walter or Anders. Have worked long distance with Walter before, but something like this is exception processing and I need to make it painless. I don't want her to have to think about repairs.
It doesn't make sense to buy something and then sell it, and she doesn't have time to deal with that stuff. She'll likely have work almost as soon as she gets there. She'll likely be out there from Date A to Date B and then be in NYC for a few months. Am trying to keep this as simple as I can.
One option is to drive to Dallas, meet up with her there and drive out, but then I have to fly back (more $$) and she still has to come back east in 2-3 months. Much as a road trip with her would be fun, that's not the best approach for this trip.
Am still looking!
