Transport costs were wild. The lowest price came from Passport, a national company who uses enclosed trucks only. US Canada provided costs for both Open and Enclosed with their open price being higher than Passport's enclosed price! These were quotes only and could change if I actually bought the car.
Anyone with a diesel pick-up and an enclosed trailer could avoid a lot of these costs. There is a real nice ramp style Haul Truck for sale in Southern Wisconsin for only ~$18K but there is no supporting financial logic for that purchase by me. Although my wife actually told me I should buy such a truck just so I could haul other people's cars for them at a fee. I know she does not realize such trucks are usually reserved for track vehicles that are already dented and scratched so hauling in the open is not a concern.
My dream truck, and it is currently for sale in Tennessee! 1947 Diamond T cab, widened 18 inches for comfort, mated to a Kenworth sleeper that is equipped with two swivel captain's chairs. All mounted on a recent vintage Ford Motor home chassis. You would not believe how cheaply this haul truck is priced.
