A lot depends on where you live. If you're out in the country with few close neighbors you might get away with it--in the suburbs I'm sure your neighbors would take exception. Any business where you take money to perform a service would open you up to liability--and rightfully so. If you forget to put oil in someones engine or screw up their brakes and cause an accident, you certainly could get sued. You can get insurance for that but they'll insist you conform to the various state and local laws that apply to such a business and anything involving cars usually has a bunch. I was a licensed used car dealer and there's a lot of hoops to jump through. There are renegade, off the grids ways to earn money, but this isn't one of them.
