OT: cross-country cargo van rental? Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Tue, 20 Aug 2013 05:16:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Does anyone know of an outfit that would rent out a cargo van for a one-way cross-country move?
My brother is contemplating moving from CA to MA. He doesn't have a lot of stuff, and we're thinking if we could fit it all in a cargo van we'd save a lot on fuel cost vs. a box truck that would get about 10 MPG.
I've looked at all the well-known rental companies, including Penske and U-Haul. Some don't do one-way rentals (Avis?), many advertise vans but when you enter the move info that option disappears and you're stuck with a truck. Some of the car-rental companies will rent a minivan but they're too small and the price is exorbitant.
Has anyone got any ideas for other options? And yes we've considered the "buy a Saab and drive it" option, but unfortunately we need more room than that.
