I discovered the mag about 3 yrs ago and have kept my subscription current. Former subscriber to R&T, and C&D...they just bored me with always the latest greatest flashiest fastest most expensive and on and on. Who cares? I don't. I could never justify 45K for anything other than a down payment on a house, so most of the performance based new cars are out of my budget or willingness to spend, read:frugal or just plain cheap.
Hemmings S&E frequently features the cars of my youth, the ones that were on the used market but still out of range for a 20 something yr old. Now, of course I could easily afford almost any old Saab,Volvo, M
G,Triumph,Alfa,Fiat,BMW ,etc. The articles are very informative with estimated replacement parts costs, vendors, clubs and contacts to give you an idea of the feasibility of ownership.
I enjoy the short commentary articles from the staff, they seem like down to earth people, car guys with an eye for the unusual machine.
And, they are based in the Northeast. Many featured cars are from the towns nearby. One of Bruce Turk's ( local 95/96 V4 long time owner/restorer) was featured recently.
It's the kind of stuff that I can actually relate to. Sure I'd like to own a new 350hp Porsche,Corvette,Challenger...etc but will I ? Probably not pending a lottery win.
