I believe that 24' is probably much too long for a 4" pipe. Since you are an EE, a good analogy would be running high current through a wire: an excessive length requires going up a wire gauge or two - and therefore if you keep the dryer where it is you probably need to increase the diameter of the pipe a size or two, or decrease the length of the run by relocating the vent or the dryer (a better idea).
Also note that Schedule 40 PVC is "for use at temperatures up to and including 140 °F" - are you sure that this meets the need of a dryer exhaust? When I bought my house, I moved the dryer to an external wall (and replaced the coiled copper pipe being used as a gas line with iron!!!), now have a short run of 4" galvanized steel vent pipe exiting the house.
