After reading varous online reviews of people's experience with expensive "high end" indoor antennas (mostly not very good...), I made my own in about an hour, using a piece of lumber, some copper wire pulled out of a scrap of Romex, a matching transformer from my junk box, and some wood screws.
It works really well, as long as it's oriented in the "right" direction.
