I'm not sure what value there is in bringing a 12-year-old design back to the US. Neither Saab under GM nor Saab under Spyker could sell enough of them in the US (or anyplace...) to pay the bills and keep the factory open.
Add to that, there have almost certainly been new safety regulations since 2008 that would require a re-design and re-engineering of the car, if not already, then in short order.
All the car mags call a model that's 4 to 5 years old "stale", so what would they say of a 12-year-old design with a six-year-old refresh?
Far better for them to sell the current car in the EU and Scandinavia, get the cash flow going, and bring a new car over here.
