Mark, I searched for a long time and found a CPO unit with the maintenance and Tire & Wheel hazard warranty, so basically everything is covered, oil, brakes, wipers (discovered BMW has the most comp warranty) so 7 yr, 100K and 5 years from now on wheel and tire damage.
BMW maint cost, well i heard the same question from people on the saab. It's all relative. The biggest issue I have read about is a carbon issue in the EGR valve which affects US TDI cars also (Audi, VW) and all about what your drive style and comfort is with that. Many happy 335d/535d/X5d drivers in NA, so all good. Much to be determined with history accounting for overall solid reliability minus prev mentioned EGR which appears to be a 50K+ issue.
