Thanks everyone for the responses.
Yup, so they are pretty old but my prescription has only changed slightly so they still work well. I already have new glasses. I'm only thinking of fixing them so I have a spare pair to leave in one of our 3 saabs - sometimes that would come in handy (eg if my wife drives off with my glasses). I mainly only use glasses in the car. It would be fine if they looked horrible but were solid, but even that may be a major challenge!
The old ones are titanium ray bans. They've held up amazingly well - for the most part they just bend back into shape if I sit on them... however, the fatal flaw in this case was that I stepped on them. I am an idiot!
I haven't bothered to do anything yet, as it sounds like welding and perhaps even brazing will be difficult. This is not something I plan to put much time into, so I appreciate the advice everyone has given me!
