I'm getting a kick out of this thread (no pun intended?)... I was afraid that in bringing up this topic I'd be stirring a fire of passion and opinion possibly exceeding any political topic! Apparently not so much... Saabnet seems to have a more American dominated participation than the other SAAB sites. Maybe there is more of a DIY culture in North America than abroad - imho folks from other countries are missing out!

I think it will be a miracle if team USA makes it out of their group - they were a bit unlucky in the draw, with 2 of the top 5 teams in the world in their group. Anything is possible though and I wish them luck!

The current FIFA rankings (as of before the tournament):

Spain
Germany
Brazil
Portugal
Argentina
Swiss
Uruguay
Columbia
Italy
England

That said, I'm not sure the rankings are that accurate - Netherlands is not even in the top 10 and they probably should be. USA has improved dramatically over the past decade or so (ranked 13 now). Canada otoh stinks. We're ranked 110! I am going for England, but I think Brazil or Germany will win.

Some exciting games so far - I really enjoyed England vs Italy, and Spain vs Holland was something else! that header to equalize - wow!
