I've done this numerous times, usually it is just a matter of removing a few screws to take the bezel off and then R&R the screen. The main thing to be careful of is the video cable as the connectors are delicate and easily damaged. There may be tiny latches that you need to release to take the cable off without damage.
If you do a web search on your laptop model you will most likely find step-by-step instructions, maybe even a video.
