Actually the situation is a little more complicated than I described.
We currently have two Windows server 2008 file servers that are "redundant" via DFS replication which is better than nothing but hardly optimal.
What we're going to do is rebuild them with Windows 2012 and cluster them, using virtual shared storage on the existing drives. So physically the data will be stored in the same place(s), but to Windows it appears to be a drive-to-drive move.
