I think most directionals that sweep outwards are good in rain, slush and snow. The question is are they good enough on dry pavement for you. The snow tires that i get are not really very performance oriented in dry conditions, but offer great snow performance (nokians).
The all seasons I just put on the 9-5 this year, RE-970's are excellent in the wet, I think even better than the pilot super sports, and while perhaps not quite as perfectly tight on a dry track, they are awfully close at speeds that are reasonable for public roads. Re970's are directional symmetric tires whereas PSS is asymmetric (non-directional). I would not consider using them anywhere near snow (even if they claim to be all seasons, I would treat them as summers - they would be very slippery in ice).
