Not sure of the exact relationship Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 6 Dec 2014 05:23:45 In Reply to: Re: OT: home repair scams, Tom G [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 5 Dec 2014 15:18:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
He may be an employee of the Mobile Home Park, or me may be a Handyman whom the Park routinely hires for repairs to the Park owned items. I got more information last night and the deal was not as bad.
My mother-in-law was charged $400 to snake the main house drain. When that failed a section of pipe was replaced for no additional cost.
Still an excessive cost in my mind but not nearly as severe. Maybe he quoted the job anticipating an even bigger scope of work and was able to do the job quicker than he thought. On some jobs you make money and on some you lose when giving fixed price quotes up front.
The guy still would have been 'on the clock' when driving to rent the power auger, driving to return it, and driving to buy the plumbing pieces. He may have even re-written the quote if the power auger worked - who knows.
