If the tires started the winter with even wear, I can usually tell which ones I want on the front (the ones that were on the rear), because they wore less over the winter than the others.
If I care enough, I've put a zip tie through a pair of bolt holes with a note on the tie.
As mentioned above, though, I usually just put the tires with the most tread on the front. By the end of the season they should wear to about even. If they are all equally worn at the start of winter, then it doesn't matter.
