I've only been to Hawaii on vacation, never lived there. I don't know where you would be moving from but the cost of living in Hawaii is on the high side for a variety of reasons. Whether or not you will enjoy living there will depend on your own personal interests, tastes, what you're used to, etc. Many enjoy living in Hawaii, some don't. Pretty much the same can be said about every state or part of the country.

Despite being expensive in many ways, Hawaii tends to have lower than average auto insurance rates. I'd suggest calling your current carrier to get a quote for Oahu and then perhaps shop around.

Is the company you'd be working for providing any relo assistance? Maybe they can connect you with a real estate agency to discuss places/areas to consider based on your wants and needs.

As far as Saab availability, I'm not really sure. When driving around the various islands in Hawaii, it always seemed that pretty much every other car was a rental.
