Sigh, three less Saabs in the nighborhood.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 23 Jul 2015 16:50:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
No, not mine. All three of our Saabs are still safe.
I was walking the dog last night and spotted the owner of a home about 3 blocks away who previously always had a pristine black OG9-3 three door and an equally pristine 9-5 SE, probably a '01 or '02, parked in his drive. As winter waned I saw that the 9-5 had suffered minor damage front and rear in a fender bender, and a couple weeks ago I noticed that the 9-3 no longer wore any plates.
I called across the street to the fellow who I haven't seen to talk to in over two years to ask what happened to the 9-3? He replied that he had donated it and his Range Rover (in really rough shape) to Mother Waddles Soup Kitchen in Detroit, and the damaged 9-5 as well as another 9-5 parked in his garage would be going there soon too.
I knew the 9-3 had over 200K miles when we last spoke two years ago. I didn't ask if any thing had happened to the car in the mean time. I did tell him I was up to three Saabs now having acquired our Viggen 'vert since we last spoke.
He is now a Mercedes convert and there are three fewer Saabs in the neighborhood.
Will happen to all of us eventually. Special versions will be retained but the daily drivers will someday need to be replaced with a different brand.
