Cargo trailers

I'm considering buying a cargo trailer because I expect to need it for several long runs. Is buying and then selling economical? U-Haul adds up quickly. Also, the payload is somewhat limited in a 6x12 pulled by a 9-5. I'd have to budget tags and insurance. I have no idea what those run.
I'm curious about aluminum chassis trailers. These are lighter which means more useful payload and possibly a larger trailer that could be easier to sell to a contractor. Not dealing with rust or galvanic corrosion sounds better. Aluminum fatigue concerns me.
Is tandem axle the way to go despite having to deal with leveling the trailer? That's not that simple when dealing with 1.25" class-II receiver limitations because I'm not sure anyone makes an adjustable ball mount. A custom drawbar is an option I suppose.
Is it better to buy a new trailer that I expect will hold some value or try to find a used one that seems safe for long distance hauls?
Any personal experience with particular brands?
