2009 GM vehicles had 5 year 100K mile engine warranty Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:56:09 In Reply to: Re: Saab Service Centers has rational answer, JamieZ, Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:05:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Unfortunately your brother's vehicle aged out - maybe. When was the vehicle originally sold? A left over 2009 MY vehicle that sold in late 2010 would still be covered at 70K miles. Some Saabs tended to sit on lots for a looong time back when Saab was garnering lots of bad press in bankruptcy proceedings. The re-badged models seemed to be affected the worst, even before GM deliberately starved Saab to death. If your brother was not the original owner a VIN check will reveal the original sales date.
My personal opinion, from listening to the horror tales within GM shortly before I left, is that most recent GM engines were/are junk. A shockingly high percentage of these engines never made it to their second scheduled Dealer oil change before catastrophic failure.
