Yes, I bought a single Easy Pick ticket and I am fully aware it is a money losing purchase. Normally I get my $1 or $2 worth of entertainment just dreaming of various 'What If' scenarios the winnings could provide. This time is different. The winnings are so large that no one should want, in fact they should fear, to be the holder of a single winning ticket.
I stopped in to my local CVS (where I bought my ticket on Thursday to avoid the Friday and Saturday crowds) for a gallon of milk last night. I asked the clerk if sales were as crazy as I suspected. He just shook his head and said their one small store sold $3K worth of tickets on Wednesday, had surpassed that sales mark Friday, and they were expecting long lines at the Lotto Machine counter all day Saturday.
The sad part is the amount of money that some individuals spend on tickets, money they don't have as disposable income. Lotto Sales fall into the Regressive Tax category, those who can least afford them spend the most on them.
