Uber in Paris & Amsterdam worked great! I've used Uber numerous times in Paris and Amsterdam. While both cities have superb public transit, there are some suburban areas more quickly reached by Uber. My only suggestions would be to have your Uber acct point to a credit card that doesn't have foreign transaction fees and to call your credit card company before your departure date and tell them what cities you'll be traveling to so they don't try to reach you to confirm your charges while you're taking Uber from the airport to your hotel. Two other suggestions: 1) if you land at CDG, select a pick-up point that is upstream of the taxi stand. This way you're not forcing the Uber driver to drive by the taxi line and pick you up in full view of those pissed off drivers. 2) request a chip & PIN credit card from your issuing bank. Chip & signature cards will work perfectly well in restaurants and shops, but only chip & PIN cards will work at train/tram ticket kiosks, Metro & London Tube station machines, and gas pumps. Bon voyage!
