Truly weird...... I removed the spark arrestor and found it nearly clean. I attempted to start the engine without the spark arrester to validate whether it was the source of the problem and found the same problem as last night.
The fuel line kit I bought today is the wrong one. It consisted of a single small diameter line exiting a small fuel tank plug. The trimmer is equipped with a large fuel tank plug with two accordion style larger diameter lines. Luckily I didn't open the package so I can return it next week.
I tried to remove the spark plug but discovered I need to remove the engine shroud, so I decided to wait until I had a new plug to install.
Attempted to start the trimmer again. It fired right up and ran with no problems! I trimmed the remainder of the yard that I couldn't do last night. Shut off the trimmer, restarted it, and again it started and ran without problems.
Obviously not fixed, but I don't know what I did to temporarily ameliorate the problem.
