Man, I was just considering doing the same thing.... Obviously I want my wife to have a newer vehicle for reliability reasons. But if I drive my current 9-5 past the 318K miles I achieved on the first one, that will be fine with me.
60 years old, I carry grudge against GM for a variety of reasons, and I love my Saabs. Maybe I am an Ove too?
I admit to my sons that I do feel some appreciation to GM. The company hired my dad when he was 50 and his previous employer went bankrupt. Both my undergrad and graduate engineering degrees were nearly free because of their educational programs. But the company that provided those benefits is not the same company that exists today, or that existed in the final 5 or 6 years before their bankruptcy.
