Sounds like to me political fallout from the demise of Saab. Muller and the others got blamed, while GM, who "poisoned pilled" the deal with enough strings to make a fishnet, didn't. Was somewhat shocked the the Swedish government at the time didn't help out at all when GM closed them down, especially when Ford was actively shopping Volvo. Sweden was about to lose their entire car building industry, while the US bailed out GM. Now who is the welfare state!;)
I suspect with the prosecution of Muller's crew, that the Swedes facilitated that deal to save Saab behind the scenes, and got pissed off and embarrassed when it failed, so somebody had to take the fall. Hence, the court case. To me , the Swedes come out looking bad for mishandling the Saab affair, which must have been a political miscalculation. Interestingly, they didn't have any problem banking the parts arm of Saab, ORIO, and certainly don't mind the Chinese trying to revive Trollhatten with manufacturing jobs no matter how interesting the Chinese business deals. SAAB aircraft pulled the rights to the name for now, but either NEVS or Saab, Trollhatten is glad to have any jobs back.
IMHO, a thoroughly botched job by the Swedes, politically and judicially.
